When we cut a log of wood with a saw it becomes warm, why?

Solution

Wood is a solid, hence it has lot amount of force of attraction. This results in a high resistance i.e. frictional force. As we exert our mechanical energy to cut the tree, the frictional does some work to oppose it! This work occurs in the form of heat and sound. This is why the saw becomes warm
