Question

When we hold or hand close to the side of the flame our hand doesn't get burnt , but when we hold our hand close to the tip of the flame we can feel the heat getting more and more hotter. Why of that happening?

Heat rises so when you hold your fingers above the flame convection transfers the energy to your digits. When you are on the side of the flame radiation is the transfer method.

With a small flame radiation is not very powerful BUT as a fire grows radiation becomes a very strong effect
