shrinks.
When we move from a dark to a bright space, the size of the pupil shrinks. This is because initially the lens was stretched to let more light enter the eye so that we could see properly in the dark space. But as soon as we shifted to a bright space, all of the sudden there was too much light entering the eye, so the iris shrinks the pupil to let enter only the required amount of light to enter the eye. That's how eyes control the brightness entering inside the eye.
