Monomial is a polynomial with one term.
Let us take 5xy as one monomial and 2ab as another monomial.

Now, let's multiply these two monomials:
5xy×2ab=(5×2)×(xy×ab)
=10×(xyab)
=10xyab

Product of 5xy and 2ab is 10xyab, i.e. a monomial.
