When we put acetone (nail polish remover) on our hand, we feel cold. Why?
Evaporation of petrol.
Evaporation causes cooling. The particles of a substance while evaporating consume heat energy from their surroundings and convert into vapour. Acetone has a low boiling point of 56∘ C. So, when we put acetone on our hand, it evaporates by absorbing heat from the hand easily. Therefore, we feel cold.
