Question

When we translate hydrogen gas combines with nitrogen to form ammonia into chemical equation . Why there is 3h2 for hydrogen gas not h2 only.

Solution

N2 (g) + 3H2 (g) ↔ 2NH3 (g)

one mole of N2 and 3 moles of H2 gives two moles of NH3(ammonia).
3 H2 is used to balance the chemical equation.
formula of ammonia is NH3, one N2 is used in the reaction so to balance the Nitrogen atom the reaction gives 2 NH3 and finally we have 6 hydrogen atoms ehich should be balanced so 3 H2 is used.
