Question

When we try to put pressure on a plastic sheet with our finger, it doesn't tear off. However, if we use a compass it tears up very easily. Why?

For the same force applied, as the area of the compass is much less as compared to your finger, the pressure is quite large. And hence it tears off in case of a compass.
