Solution

Dear student

The pleasant smell which is smelt after rain falls on the ground is due to bacteria Actinomycetes, which lives in the soil. When the soil dries out the bacteria produces spores in the soil. When it rains, the rainfall pushes these spores in the air and it acts as an aerosol, thereby spreading its smell .It is thus these spores that have that earthy pleasant smell, which is smelt by us after a rainfall.
