  4. During blood clotting, a mass of blood is formed by sticking together of blood platelets, proteins, and cells.
  5. Blood clotting is important to prevent excessive bleeding when there is an injury.

Clotting proteins:

  1. The majority of clotting proteins are synthesized in the liver.
  2. There are about 12 blood clotting factors.
  3. Blood clotting factors are Fibrinogen, Prothrombin, Tissue thromboplastin, Ionized calcium, Proaccelerin or labile factor, Stable factor, Antihemophilic factor, Christmas factor, Stuart – Power factor, Plasma thrombin antecedent, Hegman factor, and Fibrin stabilizing factor.
