Lateral Meristems:

  1. Lateral meristems are the meristems that are found along the lateral sides of roots and stems.
  2. It can only divide in the radial direction.
  3. Vascular or Intrastelar cambium ring formed by inter­fascicular cambium, intra­fascicular (also called fascicular) and cork cambium (phellogen) are all examples of this type of meristem.
  4. Such meristems are responsible for the increase in the girth of roots and stems.
