Open in App
Solution

Quadratic equation:

Quadratic equations are the polynomial equations of degree 2 in one variable of type ax2+bx+cwhere a,b,c,R anda0.

On expanding,

(x-3)(2x+1)=x(x+5)2x2+1x-6x-3=x2+5x2x2-x2-5x-5x-3=0x2-10x-3=0

The above equation is in the form of ax2+bx+c=0, where a=1,b=-10 and c=-3

Therefore, the given equation (x-3)(2x+1)=x(x+5) is a quadratic equation.
