Solution

Polysomes:

  1. During protein synthesis, when multiple ribosomes get attached to RNA, then it are called polysomes.
  2. Ribosomes are cell organelles that play a key role in protein synthesis during translation.
  3. Ribosomes contain 2 units, one small and one large
  4. In polysomes, these Ribosomes are attached to mRNA-like beads on a string.
  5. They are also called polyribosomes due to the attachment of multiple ribosomes.
  6. It helps in the translation of mRNA to polypeptides during protein synthesis.
  7. Polysomes are formed during the elongation phase of translation.
  8. These polysomes are located in liver tissues as the work of protein synthesis happens in the liver.
  9. Polysomes are base-loving granules.
  10. As polysomes are mRNA attached to multiple ribosomes, they can be found in the cytoplasm, near or above rough endoplasmic reticulum.
