Question

Where Can Sunken Stomata Be Seen?

Open in App
Solution

Sunken Stomata:

  1. Sunken stomata can be seen in Nerium.
  2. Typically, the stomata are seen at the same level as the adjacent epidermal cells, such as those seen in Mangifera, and Helianthus.
  3. The stomata in xerophytes are sunken, however, as they are found in a cup-shaped depression as seen in Nerium.
  4. In xerophytic plants, this adaptation enables them to reduce the loss of water.
