a. In both Kheda and Champaran we witness the agitation and struggle by peasants
b. In Champran, the peasants in the indigo plantations were oppressed by the European planters and were forced to grow indigo and sell it at the price fixed by the planters.
c. The British also imposed taxes on them, the farmers sold indigo to the Europeans at very low prices bringing them to the state of extreme poverty
d. Mahatma Gandhi when visited Chamapran was moved by the plight of indigo planters and launched his first Satyagraha experiment, he asked peasants not to produce indigo.
e. In Kheda district the crop had failed, Gandhi thus supported the cause of peasants and asked them not to pay revenue.
f. Gandhi thus, infused new energy in the nationalist struggle and changed the course of nationalist movement
