Solution
Synergids:
The synergids play a major role in the reproduction of angiosperms or flowering plants.
One of the synergids develops from a pollen tube during fertilization.
Two sperm cells are released once the tube stops growing and bursts.
In the embryo sac beside the egg cells in the female gametophyte of a flowering plant, there are two tiny, specialized cells called synergid cells.
The female gametophyte contains synergid cells, which are necessary for angiosperm reproduction.
During fertilization, a pollen tube expands into a synergid cell, ruptures, and releases the sperm cells.
The filiform apparatus is a thick structure formed by the synergid cell wall at the micropylar end.
Its role is to direct pollen tube entry and sperm cell release.
Both the discharge of the sperm cells and the halting of pollen tube growth depend on these structures.
