Solution

Sweat glands are small tubular structures of the skin that produce sweat. They are exocrine glands which secrete substances via duct. There are two types of sweat glands:
1. Eccrine sweat glands: They have water-based secretion which helps in the regulation of skin temperature. They discharge their secretion directly on skin surface. They are found in high density in the palms, soles and head.
2. Apocrine glands: They are found mainly in axilla or armpit and area around anus. They discharge in the canal of hair follicles .
According to Henry Gray, the palm has around 370 sweat glands per square cm.,and back of hand has 200 persquare cm.
