Glycolysis is a break down of glucose in anaerobic conditions in order to obtain energy stored in glucose molecules. It takes place in cytoplasm of every cell. Energy extracted by the way of glycolysis is not so much however it is the starting point of cellular respiration. It occurs everytime and every second in all cells even in bacterial cells.
