  1. It is the process where glucose is broken down to produce energy in the form of ATP.
  2. Respiration can be of three types depending on the availability of oxygen.
  3. Aerobic respiration occurs in the abundance of oxygen in mitochondria and its end products are carbon dioxide and water.
  4. Anaerobic respiration occurs in absence of oxygen in yeast cells and its end products are carbon dioxide and ethyl alcohol.
  5. Respiration that occurs in lack of oxygen in muscle cells produce carbon dioxide and lactic acid as end product.
