Where does splicing occur?

Open in App
Solution

Splicing:

  1. Splicing occurs in the nucleus of the cell.
  2. Before RNA is transferred to the cytoplasm, it undergoes splicing in the nucleus.
  3. After splicing, the mature mRNA (which has uninterrupted coding information) is carried to the cytoplasm, where it is translated into protein by ribosomes.
  4. RNA splicing refers to the process of transforming pre-mRNA into messenger RNA (mRNA).
  5. Pre-mRNA is a newly formed precursor mRNA after transcription.
  6. Introns present in transcription are reduced during splicing, and Exon are bound during it.
  7. Introns are referred to as non-coding gene sequences.
  8. Exons are referred to as Protein-coding gene sequences.
  9. It is done to avoid unnecessary gene sequences.
  10. Splicing occurs in the nucleus of the cell.
