Open in App
Solution

Fertlization:

  1. The process of fusion of male and female gametes.
  2. This results in the formation of zygote.
  3. In angiosperms (flowering plants), the male gametes are present inside the pollen grains and the female gamete remains inside the embryo sac.
  4. The male gametes are carried by the pollen tube towards the ovule which contains the embryo sac.
  5. One male gamete fuses with the egg cell (fertilization) to form the zygote.
  6. This event occurs inside the embryo sac.
