Question

Where does the perpendicular bisector of the line segment joining the points A(1,5) and B(4,6) cut the y-axis?

Open in App
Solution

slope of AB =G541=13
slope of line perpendicular to AB = - (13)1
= - 3
let c is mid point of AB then
c==(4+12,6+52)
=(52,112)
thus equation of line passes through c with slope -3 is
(y112)=3(x5/2)
at x=0 y=13.
thus it cuts y axis at y=13.
