  1. Comets are made up of Ice, dust, and rocky materials.
  2. Comets revolve around the sun in a highly elongated orbit.
  3. Structurally, a comet consists of three parts as shown-
    (i) Nucleus, (ii) head, (ii) tail
  4. When the comet crosses the orbit of the earth a long tail appears.
  5. The tail of a comet can be 20-30 million kilometers long.
  6. As the comet comes closer and closer to the sun melting ice along with dust and other material sweeps into a long tail.
