Dear Student,
Sensory nerves or sensory neurons may extend into the white matter of the spinal cord and ascends to the brain as a part of the sensory tract.
The main function of the sensory nerves is to carry sensory input in the form of nerve impulses along their axons, to the central nervous system.
As sensory nerves gather sensory information, which is derived from the variety of sensory nerve endings:-
A Sensory nerve ending in the skin:to detect pressure, pain ,and temperature.
Sensory endings on the tongue to detect taste.
Nerve signalling in the gut is initiated by stimulation of sensory nerve endings. So, sensory nerves are very important.
Thank You!
