The location of testosterone production:

  1. The most essential sex hormone in men is testosterone.
  2. The principal sex hormone in males plays an essential role in male reproductive tissues such as the testes and prostate and promotes secondary sexual characteristics in males
  3. The testes create more than 95 percent of endogenous testosterone, with 67mg released daily.
  4. In response to LH binding to its specific Leydig cell membrane receptor, testosterone is generated by the Leydig cells in the interstitial compartment.
