Periscope, Binoculars, Slide protector are used in place of a plane mirror total internal reflection by prism. Total internal reflection is a phenomenon which occurs when a propagating wave strikes. At the glass/air boundary of the flat surface, Prisms in binoculars use total internal reflection, rather than reflective coatings.
