To regulate the activities of the British East India Company, the Regulating Act was passed by the British Parliament in 1773.
A new Supreme Court was established, while a court of appeal – the Sadar Nizamat Adalat – was also set up at Calcutta under the Regulating Act of 1773.
An educational despatch was sent to the Governor-General of India by the Court of Directors of the East India Company in 1854.
