Solution

Aluminum foil, lead of a pencil and sewing needle are good conductors of electricity therefore if they are made part of a circuit the bulb will glow. But a cork is made up of wood which is a bad conductor of electricity. So, if we put a cork in an electric circuit, the circuit will not become complete, hence the bulb will not glow.
