Solution

  1. A bar magnet is a permanent magnet of bar or cuboidal shape
  2. Effective length is the distance between the two poles of the magnet.
  3. The length of a bar magnet is more than the effective length.
  4. A bar magnet consists of two equal and opposite poles separated by a small distance.
  5. The shortest distance between the two poles is the effective length and is less than its geometric length.
  6. Since the magnetic poles are not at the ends the magnetic length is slightly less than the geographical length.
  7. Or simply we can conclude geometrical length is more than effective length.

So geometrical length of a bar magnet is more than the effective length.
