Among the five antibodies that are found in the blood which disarm or destroy the pathogens, IgD,IgE and IgG are generally monomers. They are made up of four polypeptide chains, two identical heavy and two identical light chains (H2L2).
The other two, IgA and IgM are generally dimer and pentamer respectively.
