The pre-fertilisation events include gametogenesis and gamete transfer.

After the gametes are brought together, double fertilisation occurs in the embryo sac of the ovule. This leads to the formation of zygote and PEN.

After fertilisation, the post-fertilisation events start. They include development of embryo from zygote (embryogeny), formation of endosperm from PEN and finally the formation of seeds from ovules and fruits from ovary.
