• Coitus interruptus: The male partner withdraws his penis from the vagina just before ejaculation.
• Periodic abstinence: The couples avoid coitus between day 10 to 17 of the 28 day menstrual cycle because the chances of ovulation and hence conception are high.
• Lactational amenorrhoea: The female does not ovulate or undergo menstrual cycle during the period of intense lactation after parturition. Hence chances of pregnancy are reduced.
