Percolation rate depends upon the size of the particles. If the size of the particle is small, then the percolation rate for that soil will be low and if the particle is large in size, the percolation rate will be high. This is because of the gaps between the soil particles. Among the types of soil sandy soil has the largest particle size while clayey soil has the smallest particle size. Therefore clayey soil has the least percolation rate.
