Typhoid fever (enteric fever) a bacterial disease not a viral disease that usually happens when a person consumes food or water contaminated with Salmonella typhi. Bacteria enters through the mouth, lives in the intestine, causes lesions in the intestinal walls and can sustain high fever usually:39°C40°C. The disease is confirmed by Widal test, and antibacterial medicines (antibiotics) are prescribed for the treatment of the diseases.
DPT vaccine is given not only for diphtheria, it is also given for other other two diseases- Pertussis and tetanus.
