Soil erosion is the removal of the upper layer of the soil by the action of water, wind, etc. Overgrazing, urbanisation and deforestation can lead to the removal of plants from the top soil. This makes the soil in the top layer loose as there are no roots to hold them in place, which eventually leads to erosion.
