The β-lactam ring is part of the structure of penicillin. This ring inhibits peptidoglycan formation of the cell wall of gram-positive bacteria. Tetracyclin, neomycin and streptomycin are aminoglycosides and act on Gram negative bacteria (having no cell wall) where as β lactum antibiotics (amoxyllin, penicillin) acts on Gram positive bacteria having cell wall. Thus the correct answer is option A.
