Gram-Negative bacteria:

  1. The bacteria , when treated with the crystal violet stain, loses the color stain, are referred to as gram-negative bacteria.
  2. This is a result of the membrane present around the cells of these bacteria.
  3. Broad-spectrum antibiotics are needed for the treatment of gram-negative bacteria.
  4. As they show great antibiotic resistance properties, they have few antibiotics effective against them.
  5. Broad-spectrum antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, and glycylcycline are effective against gram-negative bacteria.
