The main hindrances of the internal navigational transport are the following.
(1) Most of the rivers in the country are seasonal. Some rivers completely dry in summers and in some water is so less that boats and steamers cannot navigation.
(2) Due to high water level during rainy season and condition of flood, navigation of ships is not possible.
(3) River level decreases due to tributaries therefore the rivers which were suitable for water transportation are not in use now.
(4) Time taking transportation.
(5) Lack of proper planning and policy.
