  • Both houses of Indian Parliament passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019. This resulted in bifurcation into two Union Territories – Ladakh & Jammu and Kashmir from 31st October 2019.
  • Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu were constituted through the merger of the former territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
  • Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a union territory of India consisting of 572 islands, of which 38 are inhabited, at the junction of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.
  • The largest town in Ladakh is Leh, followed by Kargil, each of which headquarters a district.
  • Lakshadweep also known as Laccadives. It consists of 36 islands in the Arabian sea.
  • Chandigarh is a city, district and union territory in India that serves as the joint capital of the two neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana.
