Question

Which blood vessel carry blood from alveoli to left ventricle?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Left atrium

Receives oxygenated blood from pulmonary veins and empties it into the left ventricle.

Right atrium

Receives deoxygenated blood from the vena cavae and coronary sinus and empties it into the right ventricle.

Left ventricle

Pumps oxygenated blood into the aorta via the tricuspid aortic valve; also forms the apex of the heart.

Right ventricle

Pumps deoxygenated blood into the pulmonary trunk via the pulmonary valve.

1. Veins are the vessels which carry blood to the heart.
2. Arteries are the vessels which carry blood away from the heart.
3. Pulmonary vein is the blood vessel that brings oxygenated blood to the human heart.
4. Right chamber of the human heart comprising of the right atrium and right ventricle receives deoxygenated blood from all the parts of the body.
5. De-oxygenated blood comes from the body to the right atrium, as it expands. Then it contracts to transfer the blood to the right ventricle causing it to dilate. The right ventricle, in turn, pumps it to the lungs for oxygenation. From the lungs, blood is brought back to the left side chambers of the heart by pulmonary vein which is pumped to rest of the body by aorta.
