Which category of compound is formed when one hydrogen atom of an alkane molecule is replaced by a hydroxyl group.

Alkane is a saturated hydrocarbon whose general formula is $C_{n} H_{2 n + 2}$ .
If one Hydrogen $(H)$ atom is removed and one Hydroxyl group $(- OH)$ is added then, alkane is converted into alcohol.
Hence, alcohol compound is formed.
