Question

Which charge does hydrogen consists of +ve or -ve

Open in App
Solution

Elemental Hydrogen doesn't have any net charge. The proton and electron add to zero.
At ground state the single electron occupies the first orbital shell which can have two electrons.

Full shells are more stable so it will easily give up its one electron to become the positively charged hydronium cation.
