Which chemical is injected into the skin of a person :
(a) during an ant's sting ?
(b) during the nettle leaf hair sting ?
How can the effect of these stings be neutralised ?
The sting of honey bee contains formic acid which when injected into the skin cause pain and irritation and the nettle sting contain formic acid.
The effect of acid can be neutralised by rubbing calamine solution which contains zinc carbonate which is very weak base and causes no harm to the skin or by applying moist baking soda, the effect can be neutralised.
