During its electrolysis, the cupric chromate solution dissociates into copper and chromate ions. The blue coloured positively charged copper ions moves toward the cathode and the yellow coloured negatively charged chromate ions move towards the anode. Hence, blue colour appears near the cathode and yellow colur appears near the anode.
