Which constant must be added and subtracted to solve the quadratic equation 9x2+34x+2=0by the method of completing the square?

Completing square method:

The given expression is: 9x2+34x+2=0

Dividing by 9 on both sides, x2+x12+29=0
x2+x12=-29
Third term =(12×coefficientofx)2

=(112)2=(124)2=(1576)

Adding 1576on both sides,

x2+x12+1576=1576-29(x+124)2=1576-29

Hence,1576is added and subtracted to make it perfect square.
