Solution

Power produced by power plants (Thermal power plants, Hydroelectric power plants and Windmills) is AC in nature, except solar power plant which generates DC.
We prefer Ac over Dc:-
  • Since AC is easier to step up and step down (using transformers, which work only on AC), it has been widely adopted.
  • AC can be produced, at three phases, as it is easily transformable, transmittable, and can be utilized easily, and more safer than DC supply.
This led to the usage of AC for commercial as well as domestic electrical appliances.
