Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Metal excess defect defines as a defect creates when there is anionic deficiency and metal deficiency defect creates when there is cationic deficiency.
In case of silicon it has valency 4 and phosphorous has valency 5 so, when silicon is replaced by phosphorous then the number of anions increases in the compound which corresponds to the metal deficiency defect.
