Gastrointestinal Disease :

1. Any disease or disorders that affect your stomach and intestine are known as gastrointestinal diseases.
2. The gastrointestinal infections are caused by viruses, bacteria and parasites that cause inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract or gastroenteritis.
3. The common microorganisms that can cause GI infections or diseases are Adenovirus, Campylobacter, E.coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

A list of diseases that affect the gastrointestinal tract are:

1. Constipation : It refers to the infrequent or incomplete bowel movement, caused due to inadequate fibres in the diet.
2. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) : It is a condition in which the colon contracts causing bloating, abdominal pain and cramps.
3. Gastritis : It is a condition in which the stomach lining becomes inflamed or swollen.
4. Peptic Ulcers : These are the breaks in the surface lining of the stomach or duodenum deep enough to produce a crater.
5. Gastroenteritis : It is an inflammation of both stomach and small bowel.
6. Gastric cancers : It is the second most common type of cancer, it may have symptoms like weight loss, bleeding, difficulty in swallowing.
7. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Celiac Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Hemorrhoids, Diverticulosis, Gallstones etc. are some of the other gastrointestinal diseases.
