Solution

Extra embryonic membranes:

  1. Extra embryonic membranes provide protection and nourishment to fetus.
  2. These are of 4 types-chorion, amnion, allantois and yolk sac, embryonic membranes.
  3. Chorion is the outermost extraembryonic membrane while amnion is the innermost extraembryonic membrane.

Prevents desiccation: Amnion :

  1. The amnion is a thin, tough, extra embryonic membrane that protects a developing child.
  2. It allows nutrients to reach the fetus and wastes to be removed.
  3. Amniotic fluid is found inside of the amnion and provides protection for the developing child until it is time for the pregnancy to end.
  4. It provides a cushion against mechanical injury.
