Transpiration describes loss of water from aerial parts like leaves in gaseous vapour form through the stomata. The rate of transpiration depends on vapour pressure gradient between leaf mesophyll tissue and the atmosphere. Thus, transpiration rate is affected by atmospheric humidity. Higher the humidity level in atmosphere, lower will be the transpiration rate and vice versa.
