Rhodopsin is a pigment containing sensory protein present in eye, that converts light into an electrical signal. It is extremely sensitive to light, hence plays a keyrole in vision when the light is low.
It is made up of a colorless protein called opsin and 11-cis- retinal, a pigmented protein derived from vitamin A. So food which are rich in vitamin A are important for our body.
Rhodopsin can not be made inside human body. It must be availed in food which contain beta carotene, a source of Rhodopsin. Carrots, sweet potatos, spinach, papaya and apricot are good sources of beta carotene.
